The world-renowned shooting coach known as Lethal Shooter will host a basketball masterclass before joining the Red Bull Half Court National Final in Soweto. South African basketball players will soon have the opportunity to learn from the man who has helped some of the NBA’s biggest names sharpen their shooting.
Chris Matthews, better known as Lethal Shooter, will visit South Africa for the first time ahead of the Red Bull Half Court National Final on 22 August at the Klipspruit Sports Centre in Soweto. Matthews has earned an international following through his creative shooting drills and coaching methods. His visit will give local players and fans a rare opportunity to experience his approach firsthand.
Lethal Shooter Will Host a Basketball Masterclass in Johannesburg
Before the tournament, Matthews will host an exclusive Lethal Shooter Masterclass at the University of the Witwatersrand on 21 August. Aspiring basketball players and Red Bull Half Court finalists will have the chance to work on their shooting under his guidance.
“I’m excited to experience the energy of basketball in South Africa firsthand,” Matthews says. “Basketball is a universal language, but every country brings its own culture and style to the game. I’m looking forward to connecting with the players, sharing some knowledge and learning from the community here too.”
What Is Red Bull Half Court?
Red Bull Half Court is an international three-on-three streetball tournament featuring men’s and women’s divisions. At the South African National Final, the country’s leading teams will compete for the national title and the opportunity to represent South Africa on the global stage.

Matthews will attend the final on 22 August, where he is expected to meet fans, engage with athletes and share his expertise during one of the country’s biggest streetball events.

Matthews believes progress starts with consistency and a willingness to keep learning. “My message is simple: fall in love with the work,” he says. “The best players I’ve worked with never stop learning, never stop putting in the reps and always believe in themselves. Stay consistent, embrace the journey, keep shooting and stay locked in.”
