Rado has teamed up with European Cricket to create a special-edition Captain Cook packed with subtle sporting details, three interchangeable straps and an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
Cricket and watchmaking share an appreciation for precision, timing and patience. Those similarities sit at the heart of the new Rado Captain Cook x European Cricket Special Edition, created to celebrate the Swiss watchmaker’s role as European Cricket’s Official Timing Partner.
Rather than covering the watch in obvious sporting graphics, Rado has incorporated several understated cricket references into its familiar Captain Cook design.
The Dial Takes Inspiration From a Cricket Pitch
Viewed from above, the blue gradient dial resembles a cricket pitch. Three gold-coloured dots positioned above the Rado logo represent the stumps of a wicket, while the minute track around the dial takes inspiration from the stitching on a cricket ball. Rado’s signature moving anchor has also been reworked for the collaboration. It sits against a deep red background colour-matched to cricket-ball leather, with the same shade appearing on the tip of the seconds hand.

The dial’s dark outer edge complements the polished blue high-tech ceramic bezel insert while helping the chunky gold-coloured hands stand out. White Super-LumiNova on the hour markers and main hands improves visibility when the light begins to fade. Gold-coloured details appear across the bezel, crown, indices and hands, giving the stainless-steel sports watch a more elevated finish.
Three Straps Make It a Proper All-Rounder
The watch comes with Rado’s EasyClip system, allowing the wearer to switch between three included strap options without making the process unnecessarily complicated.
There is a stainless-steel bracelet with gold-coloured PVD-coated middle links, a dark blue and gold NATO-style textile strap and a black rubber strap. A storage pouch is included to keep the additional options together.
The steel bracelet gives the Captain Cook a smarter appearance, while the textile and rubber straps offer more relaxed alternatives for weekends, travel or time spent around the water.
It Has the Performance to Match Its Looks
Inside the watch is Rado’s automatic calibre R763 movement. It features 25 jewels, an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring and an 80-hour power reserve. That means you could remove the watch on Friday evening and find it still running when Monday morning arrives. Water resistance is rated at 30 bar, equivalent to 300 metres, reinforcing the Captain Cook’s credentials as more than a cricket-themed collector’s piece.

At 43mm wide, 49.8mm long and 16.2mm thick, this is a substantial watch. Its dimensions and two-tone finish give it considerable wrist presence, so it is unlikely to appeal to anyone searching for something discreet. A box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while the screw-down caseback carries a special laser engraving identifying Rado as the Official Timing Partner of European Cricket.
A Cricket Watch That Does Not Look Like Merchandise

The strongest aspect of the Captain Cook x European Cricket Special Edition is its restraint. Details such as the wicket-inspired markers, cricket-ball anchor and stitched minute track reward closer inspection without making the watch feel like conventional sports merchandise.
It remains recognisably a Captain Cook, but the additional design touches, versatile strap selection and robust technical specifications give cricket fans something distinctive to wear long after the final over.
