Why Snoozing In The Nude Is Better

Sleeping naked may not be appealing in winter but with spring fast approaching, here is a few reasons why it could benefit you in more ways than one.

No More Sleepless Nights

A recent Australian study found that the drop in core body temperature is needed in order for us to fall asleep.

Hence why you could suffer from insomnia as your body can’t release the heat when you wear heavy pajama’s or socks. Sleeping in your birthday suit helps you fall asleep faster and releases the heat more quickly.

Deeper, Longer Rest
Recall that one time that you slept naked and felt like that was some of the best shut-eye you got in a long time, in another study they found that naked sleepers do experience longer and deeper sleep as the regulation of bed-body temp could aid for longer periods of time.

‘’Dutch scientists had placed thermo suits on participants in order to lower their skin temperature. As a result, the participants had an uninterrupted sleep and spent more time in the deep sleep stages.’’

Get Rid Of Excessive Belly Fat

Who would have thought that sleeping naked could help you lose that excessive belly fat that just does not want to go down. When your body naturally cools itself down at night, it lowers your cortisol levels.

The hour’s where you receive the most sleep are between 10 pm- 2am which is when you’re your cortisol levels are at its minimum as after 2 am your clever ‘lil body starts preparing itself for the next day hence why you wake up feeling energized.

If you do not get enough sleep, you tend to wake up with unusually high cortisol levels, which trigger your appetite for comfort foods; but if you ditch your pj’s, sleeping naked helps to regulate those cortisol levels.

Healthier Sex Organs

Surprised that sleeping naked, could lead to you and your lady having healthier sex organs just by ‘exposing it to free flowing air’? Keeping your testes cooler is ideal for healthy sperm and keeps the reproductive system functioning normally.

This why you should not wear tight briefs or pile on the blankets- “When you are wearing tight briefs, the testes heat up and lower your sperm count.”

Slows Down the Ageing Process

A cooler body could help prevent ageing, a recent study published in the “Sleep” journal found that ‘’sleep in and of itself triggers the release of growth hormones and melatonin, which are the most vital anti-aging hormones”; which means the more shut- eye you get the more you will slow down the ageing process and produce those hormones.

Being naked is beginning to sound better and better, is it not?

Skin to Skin

Not sleeping alone? Well sleeping naked with your partner could also improve your sex life; a ‘lil bit of skin to skin contact ain’t never hurt nobody.

“Oxytocin is a powerful “feel-good” hormone, which is needed for orgasm and sexual responsiveness, dealing with stress, combating depression, reducing intestinal inflammation, and reducing blood pressure.”

Keep in mind that sleeping naked with your partner could remove any obstacles that could pop up between you and creates a friendlier sexual environment.

Say Bye to Skin Diseases

Sleeping naked just keeps on getting better right? Giving skin a chance to air especially areas like your genitals, armpits and feet could lower your risk of contracting skin diseases like athlete’s foot and Intertrigo, a rash which is common in wet, restricted skin.

Prevents type 2 Diabetes

Another reason why sleeping naked is better, as it can prevent type 2 diabetes; a study published in the June edition of “Diabetes”, found evidence that suggests that sleeping in the nude has been linked to improving your metabolism, lowering blood sugar levels and preventing type 2 diabetes.

“Scientists found that, when the participants were colder—and sleeping almost entirely in the nude, their unhealthy fat began disappearing within just a few weeks.”

Better Blood Flow

With elastic bands around your waist, twisted t-shirts and tight socks cutting off your circulation which makes it difficult for your blood to flow more freely through your body. “This increased circulation benefits the heart, muscles, and arteries as the oxygen rich blood flows to your extremities.”

So why are you still wearing your pajama’s? As all of this information gives you more than enough reasons to ditch them and enjoy some naked time, all according to science.
