After the launch of Under Armour’s new training shoe, the UA Flow Dynamic. The Men’s Health staff got busy putting them to the test. We tried out the new UA Flow dynamic training shoe to see how versatile the technology could be. These kicks did not disappoint.

After the success of the UA running-specific shoe – the Velociti Flow – the UA Flow Dynamic has taken this same unique new technology to create a training shoe without an outsole. This means the midsole is responsible for its traditional cushioning and response duties. And now has the added responsibility of interacting effectively with your exercise surface to provide traction and protection. By removing the outsole the weight is able to be kept lower than most training shoes to give the overall light feeling that we all felt when testing.
The breathable fabric allows cool air to circulate while allowing humid air to escape. The upper is finished with a lacing system that helps secure the mid-foot for distraction-free strides.
Ryan’s Roundup: Putting these new training shoes through their paces for my regular workouts is something I’ve been waiting for since I saw the release of this unique shoe without an outsole – a bold move that needed to be tested. The weight saved by leaving this part of the shoe out was noticeable right away, and the plush, supportive midsole did a great job in keeping traction and grip effective for the variable underfoot surfaces. The beauty is I can just grab these shoes for gym, stair sessions, outdoor workouts, and my new favourite sweat session – Padel. One shoe, many workouts. It’s got really great supportive tech too. It’s not often that I’ve felt so confident in such light shoes. Lateral movements and powerful push-off motions felt very natural and landing on any surface posed no problems at all.
