The Top Cosmetic Procedures This Year For Men

by | Mar 9, 2023 | Grooming

The concept of overall health, wellness, and vitality is evolving to being more than just feeling good physically but looking good too and this can be through cosmetic procedures.

According to Dr Kajal Lutch, founder of Klutch Plastic Surgery , she is seeing a steep rise in men seeking appearance-enhancing treatments. These include both non-surgical and surgical procedures. “Whether it’s purely vanity treatments that help to masculinise features and boost overall confidence or interventions that can address unwanted physical conditions, there’s a mindset shift happening that is seeing more men taking charge of their appearance,” says Lutch.

Here we give you a look at the five aesthetic procedures for males that are gaining popularity this year:

Liposculpting

Liposculpting is the removal of fat through suctioning. So, it’s essentially liposuction, however, it incorporates the sculpting of the body as well. This is a widespread procedure with men as they get older, as it heads straight for the dreaded beer belly and love handles. “After the liposuction, the lipo sculpting involves creating the definition that males are often seeking, such as sculpting a six-pack and creating indentations in areas of various muscles. Oftentimes, there’s a stubborn area of fat around the abs or other muscle groups that no amount of exercise can change, so this procedure helps to remove that unwanted fat and then sculpt the area.” The downtime is minimal with most men leaving the hospital on the same day.

Botox

Botox is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation injection which is basically an anti-wrinkle injection.

Men often struggle with very thick, strong, forehead and eye muscles, so their botox doses are a little bit higher than females, but they also require fewer injection points and less frequent repeats. “ A lot of men only require repeat injections twice a year. The upper face is where men benefit the most from botox, and downtime is basically a lunchtime procedure. You’ll just have to skip the gym that day,” says Lutch.

Gynaecomastia Correction

Gynaecomastia often called ‘man boobs’ is an enlargement of male breast tissue. This could be either due to a medical condition, certain medications or performance enhancer drugs (such as steroids), a surge in hormones, or it can be idiopathic, which means that there’s no known cause. Once any medical conditions have been ruled out and any treatable conditions are stopped. The surgery or non-surgical intervention can proceed. This can include hormonal injections if the case is mild, liposuction, or removal of tissue through incisions.

Beard Facials

The main aim of beard facials is to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of facial hair. It is also an overall skin to prevent outbreaks of acne and folliculitis (blocked hair follicles). A lot of skincare product gets absorbed into the beard hair and not the skin itself. The focus of beard facials is infusing products and serums into the actual skin under and surrounding the beard. The most popular beard facial procedures are the 4D ultrasound glass skin facials. They use ultrasonic energy to get the serums and products deep into the cells, and DermaFrac which is microdermabrasion, micro-needling, and serum infusion.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Therapy

For men struggling with receding hairline and thinning around the crown area, PRP therapy is a great solution. The surgical procedure involves drawing a patient’s blood and extracting the stem cells and plasma (called liquid gold). This is then injected back into the areas that need a rejuvenation. It can be the thinning areas of the hairline, around the crown of the scalp, and is even used for eyebrow hair, beard hair, and moustache hair as well.  “The other interesting thing about PRP is that we have been using it in what is known as the P-shot. A procedure that improves the overall quality of the male reproductive organ. Since you’re injecting your blood back into the body, complications and side effects are rare, and downtime is minimal,”  she says.
