Breitling Superocean Heritage Gets a Stylish Refresh Inspired by Hawaii

by | Partnership, Style

Breitling’s stylish sea watch gets a sun-soaked refresh—its first since 2017—with refined new proportions, ocean-ready elegance, and a salute to Hawaiian surf culture.

A Dive Watch with Timeless Style

The Superocean Heritage is no ordinary sea watch—it never was. When Breitling first launched it in 1957, it took a different tack from other dive watches of the era. The Ref. 1004 (a sleek time-only piece) and Ref. 807 (the world’s first dedicated dive chronograph) weren’t just about exploring the underwater world. They were about looking good doing it.

Spear-and-arrow hands, an anodized rotating bezel, and naturally sleek proportions made it a favourite among stylish adventurers who lived for the sea and the scene. Today, that philosophy remains at the core of the Superocean Heritage. It has the soul of the 1950s but is designed for the modern era. It marries vintage elegance with contemporary functionality.

Refined Movements and Sizes for Every Wrist

This refresh sharpens the Superocean Heritage in both performance and variety. The collection includes a 42 mm chronograph, powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, the brand’s flagship timekeeping movement.

Automatic models in 44 mm, 42 mm, and 40 mm sizes introduce the B31 movement. It is Breitling’s first exclusive three-hand manufacture caliber. A 36 mm version houses the Caliber 10 automatic movement, making the collection versatile for a wide range of wrists and style preferences.

Durable Materials and Elegant Design

The updated Superocean Heritage features a streamlined color palette of black, blue, and green. It is paired with ceramic-inlayed bezels for exceptional scratch resistance. Thinner, more integrated mesh-metal and mesh-rubber bracelets ensure a secure, watertight fit. They come complete with folding clasps for a seamless look.

Design refinements enhance symmetry and legibility. Tone-on-tone subdials and a subtle date aperture at six o’clock create a balanced composition. Meanwhile, arrow-shaped hour hands, spear-shaped minute hands, and pointed indexes maintain the easy readability that made the original a diver favourite.

A Touch of Luxury and Versatility

Select models add responsibly sourced 18k red-gold to the outer bezels. This elevates the collection’s aesthetic while preserving its sleek, sporty look. The new 36 mm and 40 mm sizes cater to those who prefer a trimmer diameter. Importantly, they do this without sacrificing style or performance, making the collection genuinely versatile.

Hawaii-Inspired Campaign Brings the Spirit to Life

To celebrate the launch, Breitling’s campaign draws on the sights, sounds, and surf culture of Hawaii. With its modern-retro flair, the campaign channels lush foliage, saturated tones, and sunlit energy. It captures the Aloha State’s vibrant, adventurous spirit.
