Canan Moodie Renews Breitling Partnership and Picks His Favourite Watch

by | Partnership, Style

Breitling South Africa has officially renewed its partnership with Springbok and Bulls rugby player Canan Moodie. The 21-year-old World Cup winner has been re-signed as a brand ambassador for a second consecutive year. This reinforces his role as one of the country’s rising stars in both sport and style.

To mark the occasion, Moodie was hosted at the Breitling boutique in Sandton City. He explored the brand’s latest watch collections and selected a few of his seasonal favourites.

A Supercharged Watch for a Supercharged Lifestyle

During his visit, Moodie gravitated toward standout models in the Chronomat and Avenger ranges. However, it was the Super Chronomat B01 44—with its striking blue dial and matching blue rubber rouleaux strap—that ultimately caught his eye.

“The Super Chronomat caught my attention instantly and I knew it was the watch for me,” Moodie said. “It is a bold companion to my supercharged lifestyle and matches the colours of my rugby team perfectly.”

The blue hue is a nod to the Bulls team colours. This makes it the perfect match-day accessory for the young star, who proudly sports the piece both on and off the field.

A Shared Commitment to Performance

“We’re thrilled to have Canan as a member of our squad for another year,” said Ian Piguet, Managing Director of Breitling South Africa. “His journey continues to inspire us. We look forward to a long-lasting partnership in which we continue to support his passion for rugby.”

Moodie played a pivotal role in helping South Africa secure its historic fourth Rugby World Cup title in October 2023. At just 20 years old, he was the youngest player on the squad. He scored a try early in the tournament—cementing his place as one of the most promising talents in South African rugby.

Breitling and the Game of Rugby

Breitling’s connection to rugby extends beyond South Africa. Since 2022, the Swiss brand has been the Official Timing Partner of Six Nations Rugby. Earlier this year, it launched two limited-edition models—the Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 and the Chronomat 32—as part of its Rugby Squad campaign. These pieces honour the sport’s heritage and values, including teamwork, integrity and inclusivity.
