Breitling Honours Aviation Icons with the Navitimer GMT and Automatic 41

by | Jan 29, 2025 | Style

Breitling marked its 140th anniversary with the release of the Navitimer GMT and Automatic 41. Showcasing the brand’s enduring aviation legacy, these new models also feature global sports icons Erling Haaland and Giannis Antetokounmpo as part of the campaign.

A Legacy Built in the Skies

Since its debut in 1952, the Navitimer has been synonymous with aviation. The watch’s innovative circular slide rule allowed pilots to perform critical calculations, such as rate of climb and fuel consumption, directly from their wrists. This functionality made the Navitimer an essential tool during the golden era of civil aviation.

Over time, the Navitimer transcended its original purpose. While it remained a favorite among pilots, cultural icons like Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg adopted the timepiece for its unique blend of functionality and style, cementing its place in pop culture.

Modern Redesigns for Everyday Elegance

In 2022, Breitling began refreshing the Navitimer collection to balance its storied heritage with modern aesthetics. The latest additions—the Navitimer GMT and Automatic 41—stay true to the iconic design while offering updated features. These models omit the chronograph but retain the signature slide rule, ensuring a sleek, wearable design.

The Navitimer’s Journey Continues

Breitling’s “NAVITIMER – FOR THE JOURNEY” campaign celebrates the watch’s evolution from an aviation instrument to a symbol of personal milestones. The campaign features Charlize Theron, Bertrand Piccard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and now, Erling Haaland.

Reflecting on his partnership with the brand, he shared: “I’m super proud to be representing Breitling’s icon.
