In its debut season, Betway SA20 introduced six privately owned teams with 18 players each, combining international stars and homegrown talent. Season 2 brought an exciting innovation—a Rookie Draft—increasing squad sizes to 19 and giving young players the chance to perform on a global stage. This format allowed emerging talents to shine while learning from world-class coaches and seasoned professionals. The league’s teams—Durban’s Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape—compete in a round-robin stage, culminating in playoffs and the coveted Betway SA20 trophy.

Jordan’s crowning achievement thus far has been his T20 century at Newlands, showcasing his ability to dominate against top competition. His blend of raw talent, maturity, and confidence has made him a cornerstone for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Bryce Parsons
Left-Hand Batter for Durban’s Super Giants
Bryce Parsons is a rising star whose batting style reflects the influence of his cricketing idols, such as Quinton de Kock. Known for his aggressive and entertaining approach at the crease, Bryce has always had a knack for captivating audiences with his dynamic play. His rookie season was transformative, thanks in part to the mentorship of Lance Klusener, which helped him hone his skills and understand the nuances of T20 cricket. Bryce’s breakthrough moment came when he smashed a maiden T20 century for the Dolphins, proving that he could handle pressure and deliver when it matters most. Kwena Maphaka
Left-Arm Bowler for Paarl Royals
Kwena Maphaka is a force to be reckoned with, boasting an explosive pace that has drawn comparisons to South Africa’s fast-bowling prodigy, Kagiso Rabada. A graduate of St Stithians College, Kwena’s cricketing journey has been nothing short of meteoric. His talent shone brightly during the ICC U19 World Cup, where he set records and left a lasting impression on scouts. This promising bowler further expanded his international experience with an IPL stint that showcased his adaptability and poise under pressure. Making his T20I debut for the Proteas cemented his status as one of the sport’s most exciting prospects. This season, Kwena will play a pivotal role for the Paarl Royals, teaming up with Lungi Ngidi to create a formidable bowling attack to challenge opponents and thrill fans.
JP King
All-Rounder for Joburg Super Kings
JP represents hard work and resilience. He battled through early challenges, including a spot on the Gauteng Schools U15 “B” team. Determined to prove himself, he notched an impressive batting average of 94 and a top score of 131 not out, securing a spot on the SA Colts U19 team. Later he debuted for NW Dragons in first-class cricket, scoring 33 runs and taking three wickets in his first match. MI Cape Town’s coach Robin Peterson took notice and recruited him to join the team. Under Peterson’s mentorship, JP showcased his attacking prowess in the CSA T20 Challenge, tallying 138 runs at a 27.60 average and an impressive strike rate of 142.26, including a maiden T20 half-century against his former team, the NW Dragons. He’s now poised to be a standout player in the upcoming T20 season.
