Located in the heart of Joburg, Tempo blends polished design, great service and bold flavours for a high-end experience. It doesn’t feel stiff or overly formal. Whether you’re planning a romantic dinner or simply spoiling yourself, this is the kind of restaurant that turns a night out into an occasion.

I started my meal with the Grilled Prawn & Avocado Salad. It landed with a fresh, punchy hit of chilli-lime dressing over citrus-marinated prawns and baby gem lettuce. It’s a great opener—light and flavourful with just the right amount of zing.
The real standout of the night, though, was the Garlic Butter Prawns & Squid Ink Linguine. Visually striking with jet-black pasta and golden prawns. This dish packs in layers of umami thanks to a rich seafood bisque reduction. It’s decadent without being heavy and a must-try if you’re into bold flavours and perfect pasta.

For mains, the Beef Fillet was a knockout—tender and perfectly cooked. It was served with creamy onion purée, oyster mushrooms and a crispy Parmesan crumb that adds serious texture. It’s hearty, satisfying and thoughtfully plated.
To finish, I went with the Rooibos Crème Brûlée—a local twist on a classic. The rooibos adds depth to the custard and the sugar crust cracks exactly the way you want it to. It’s subtle, elegant, and a great note to end on.
Executive Chef Bonga Williams, who was also nominated for Best Chef in Johannesburg, is the creative mind behind the menu. His attention to detail and flavour-driven approach are obvious in every dish. “We’re incredibly honoured,” he says. “And we’ll keep pushing to deliver exceptional experiences.”
Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to treat yourself this long weekend, Tempo Luxury Restaurant is absolutely worth your time—and appetite.
