STYLE SAVVY
Twin brothers Innocent and Justice Mukheli
and best friend Vuyo Mpantsha are the creative brains behind the proudly African aesthetic I SEE A DIFFERENT YOU. The Soweto trio combines fashion, art and photography, well, as they see it. Their work is mostly inspired by their parents’ and grandparents’ photo albums. They were also one of nine young influential artists who were featured on the Diesel + Edun Studio Africa
campaign. They are denim modernists who know the importance of style that’s authentic, edgy and wearable.
What are your favourite denim brands?
We don’t have a favourite brand because some outfits need different denim designers to be complete. But at the moment we are enjoying the likes of G-Star, Diesel and All Saints.
What’s your favourite way to wear jeans?
Innocent wears his blue jeans with a white T-shirt and All Star high-top
sneakers. Vuyo likes
his with flamboyant or
classic shirts, slim-fitted jeans and sandals,
while Justice prefers
his denims with tailored blazers, slim-fit shirts
and brogues.
How many days a week
do you wear them?
Depends on how busy the week is! When we’re on a shoot denim isn’t very
comfortable because we
run around a lot. So we probably wear jeans about three times a week.
What do you like best about your favourite pair of jeans?
That they’re slim-cut and look best worn with turn
ups and a pair of worn-in brogues.
