HOKA’s Latest Mach 7 and Speedgoat 7 Push Performance to the Next Level

by | May 13, 2026 | Running

Whether your training block involves chasing faster road splits or tackling technical mountain trails, HOKA has refreshed two of its most popular silhouettes with meaningful updates. The new Mach 7 and Speedgoat 7 continue to build on the DNA that made both shoes cult favourites among runners, while refining comfort, responsiveness and durability for everyday use.

Here’s everything you need to know about the latest additions to HOKA’s performance lineup.

HOKA Mach 7 Is Built for Everyday Speed

The Mach franchise has long been one of HOKA’s most versatile road shoes and the Mach 7 continues that trend. Designed as a lightweight daily trainer with enough responsiveness for faster sessions, the latest update focuses on delivering a more refined and breathable ride.

At the core of the Mach 7 is a supercritical EVA foam midsole that provides energetic cushioning without feeling overly soft. The shoe keeps runners close to the ground with a low-profile cushion bed, helping create a more efficient push-off during tempo efforts and daily runs alike.

The updated creel jacquard upper improves airflow while reducing overall weight, making the shoe feel lighter on foot. HOKA has also refined the tongue construction, introducing a flatter, speed-focused tongue alongside an internal gusset that helps create a secure, locked-in fit.

Durability has also received attention. Sticky rubber in the forefoot improves grip, while durabrasion rubber at the heel helps combat wear in high-impact areas.

What’s New in the Mach 7

  • Refined creel jacquard upper for enhanced breathability
  • New futuristic design lines
  • Speed-centric tongue for improved lockdown
  • Durabrasion rubber heel for extra durability
  • Same responsive cushioning setup that made the previous model popular

The Mach 7 is best suited to runners looking for a neutral road shoe that can comfortably handle daily mileage while still feeling quick enough for speed sessions.

HOKA Speedgoat 7 Takes on Technical Terrain

The Speedgoat series has become synonymous with trail running performance and the Speedgoat 7 doubles down on what made the shoe a favourite among mountain runners.

This latest version introduces a supercritical foam midsole for improved energy return while maintaining the stable platform that technical trail runners need. HOKA has also refined the heel collar for added comfort and integrated compatibility with trail gaiters to help keep debris out during long adventures.

Underfoot, the Vibram Megagrip outsole continues to be the star of the show. Combined with updated lug orientation and 5mm lugs, the Speedgoat 7 is designed to deliver confidence across loose gravel, rocky climbs and steep descents.

The upper uses a lightweight woven textile that wraps comfortably around the foot while still allowing room for natural toe splay. A dual-gusset lay-flat tongue adds long-distance comfort, while reflective details improve visibility in low-light conditions.

What’s New in the Speedgoat 7

  • Supercritical foam midsole for improved rebound
  • Refined heel collar for better comfort
  • Gaiter integration for trail protection
  • Updated lug orientation for improved grip on mixed terrain

Tried & Tested on Table Mountain

“The Speedgoat 7 was tested during a 90-minute run on some of Table Mountain’s most technical trails and it immediately delivered confidence underfoot. The Vibram outsole stood out from the first climb, offering exceptional grip on steep ascents while maintaining stability and control on fast descents. On loose and rocky terrain, the shoe felt planted and secure throughout the run.

Cushioning is another standout feature. The stack height strikes a sweet spot between comfort and trail feel, giving the shoe enough protection for longer outings without sacrificing stability. Runners with wider feet will also appreciate the fit. The toe box offers enough room for natural swelling during long hours on the trails, while still maintaining a secure lockdown through the midfoot.

Another underrated detail is the lace length. The standard laces are long enough to comfortably use a heel-lock lacing method, something many trail shoes surprisingly overlook. After testing the Speedgoat 7 across technical terrain, one thing became clear: this could easily be one of the best trail running shoes currently available for runners who want grip, comfort and confidence in equal measure.” – Paul Goddard, Chief Ad Guy
