by | Oct 9, 2025 | Entertainment

Milk + Cookies is returning to South Africa this summer and they’re bringing serious star power. Multi-platinum rapper Gunna, known for hits like “Drip Too Hard” and “Push Up”, will headline Milk + Cookies Music Week 2026. This is a 21-day celebration of music, culture and creativity taking over Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The festival runs from 24 December 2025 to 14 January 2026. Gunna will perform at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on 3 January. Then, he will perform at Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg on 10 January.

Joining him are two South African icons, DJ Kent and Vigro Deep, who will bring local energy and global sound to the stage. Together, they highlight how hip-hop, amapiano and house continue to shape international music culture.

A Creative Connection Between Atlanta and South Africa

Founded by four Morehouse College alumni, Milk + Cookies has grown from a local Atlanta event into a global platform that celebrates creativity and connection. The brand made its South African debut in 2025 with Kaytranada headlining a sold-out event. This debut drew over 20,000 fans. Its return in 2026 signals a deeper relationship between Atlanta’s creative scene and South Africa’s thriving culture.

“We’re coming back to South Africa because its culture sets the pace for the world,” said Chase Freeman, Head of Marketing at Milk + Cookies. “Last year we saw how Atlanta’s hustle blends naturally with South Africa’s incredible creativity. It’s a partnership that just works.”

More Than Music

Milk + Cookies Music Week goes beyond the stage. This year’s edition will include educational workshops, writing camps and industry panels. These are designed to empower and equip South Africa’s next generation of creatives.

“True creativity thrives when we invest in people,” said Jhordan Gibbs, Director of Business Development and Strategy. “We’re here to provide South African creatives with the tools, resources and connections they need to grow confidently in their craft.”

Festivalgoers can also look forward to local merch pop-ups, community givebacks and creative showcases. These events support small businesses and celebrate South African design, style and innovation. It’s not just about the performances, it’s about the people and the culture driving them.
