ASICS has officially unveiled the SUPERBLAST 3, the latest update to its high-energy super trainer series. Building on the success of the SUPERBLAST 2, the new model introduces next-generation FF LEAP foam technology. This is designed to deliver a lighter, more responsive and more energising ride.
Developed in Kobe, Japan and shaped by ASICS’ long-standing design philosophy of user testing, science and innovation, the SUPERBLAST 3 is engineered to help runners unlock more energy with every stride. Whether you are chasing a PB or stacking up everyday kilometres, this update aims to keep both body and mind switched on.
Ff Leap Foam Takes Centre Stage
The biggest upgrade comes underfoot. The SUPERBLAST 3 replaces the previous FF TURBO PLUS foam with FF LEAP, ASICS’ lightest and most energetic foam to date.
The result is a noticeably bouncier and more responsive feel. Paired with a redesigned trampoline pod beneath the foot, the shoe delivers a stronger rebound effect. This helps conserve physical energy while maintaining comfort. It is the kind of cushioning that encourages flow during long runs and steady sessions alike.
Despite the added performance punch, the shoe is 10 grams lighter than its predecessor, making it feel more agile during daily training.
Comfort Meets Propulsion
The SUPERBLAST 3 is not just about bounce. Runners will also notice improved midfoot support thanks to a redesigned eyestay construction. The engineered woven upper remains breathable and lightweight. Now it is enhanced with refined textures and patterns that adapt more naturally to movement.
Underfoot, the shoe features a dual-layer midsole made up of FF LEAP and FF BLAST PLUS cushioning. With a stack height of 38.5 mm in the forefoot and 46.5 mm in the heel, the ride is plush yet dynamic. The cushioning is tuned to absorb impact while returning energy. As a result, this turns everyday runs into a smoother, more uplifting experience.
Within the ASICS BLAST Series, which also includes the NOVABLAST, SONICBLAST and MEGABLAST models, the SUPERBLAST 3 stands out as the most performance-driven option. It is for runners who want maximum bounce and versatility.
Inspired by Elite Performance
According to Paul Lang, Senior Manager of Global Product, Performance Running Footwear at ASICS, the goal was clear.
Knowing that runners already trust the SUPERBLAST franchise, the team wanted this update to meaningfully elevate the experience. By incorporating the same FF LEAP foam featured in ASICS’ pinnacle METASPEED racing series, the SUPERBLAST 3 bridges the gap between daily trainer and high-performance shoe.
The addition of redesigned trampoline pods and the reduced weight work together to create a more powerful and responsive sensation with every step.
Performance With Purpose
Sustainability remains a priority in the SUPERBLAST 3’s construction. The upper incorporates recycled polyester, while the sockliner uses a dope-dyeing process intended to reduce water usage during production. Bio-based materials are also integrated into the midsole. These choices reflect ASICS’ broader commitment to balancing performance innovation with long-term environmental responsibility.
Price and Colourways in South Africa
The SUPERBLAST 3 has launched on 1 March 2026 and retails for R4,700 in South Africa. Available colourways include White and Black, Cobalt Burst and Light Orange, and Seashell and Sun Coral.
