Lenny Kravitz has always had an enviable physique. A devout vegan, the 61-year-old rockstar’s routine is an extension of his values and beliefs around food, the environment and supporting his active on-stage career.
‘I’m very careful about what I put into my body and how I take care of my body,’ he said to MH. ‘So it’s a combination of eating all of these things that I’ve shown you and working out and keeping my muscles and my joints in shape so that I can do what I do, which is get up on stage and play music.’
Lenny Kravitz’s Diet
Kravitz follows a vegan diet and eats much of his food raw, particularly when he’s at home in the Bahamas, where much of his produce is grown locally or in his own garden.
His fridge is full to the brim with fruit and vegetables. “As you can see, I’m vegan and primarily raw. I have done extensive raw diets where I eat raw for a year,” he says. “What we have is green and more green. We got cucumbers, mangoes, broccoli, kale, salad greens. A great blessing of living here in The Bahamas is that I’m able to grow my own food.”

It’s no surprise that given his six-pack, his diet is particularly strict. Kravitz explains, “There’ll be times where I don’t take in sugar, not even fruit sugar, and I just eat green.’ That said, his approach isn’t rigid 24/7. His indulgence of choice is high-carb foods: “My cheat meals consist of pasta, bread, pancakes, waffles, carbs, carbs, and more carbs.”

Lenny Kravitz’s training
“I work out five to six days a week,” he says. “My exercise regime has become more efficient, more focused, so less time actually working out, but way more efficient.”
But, his gym is far from boutique, despite it being set in his picturesque garden. “With these few hand weights, I can get an amazing workout here,” he explains. “This really simple setup has kept me going for the last six months here while I’ve been in The Bahamas.” Kravitz prefers outdoor training for the mental health benefits instead of being cooped up in a gym. “Exercise keeps my mind, body and spirit where I can be more creative,” he says.
